Scope and Contents The D.H. Lawrence Collection consists of four series: correspondence, notebooks, manuscripts, and periodicals. The letters are grouped by correspondent and arranged chronologically. Almost all of Lawrence’s letters are fully dated and occasional transcriptions accompany them. The manuscripts donated by Dr. Butler are in chronological order by the date of publication. The collection consists of two series: manuscripts and correspondence, dated from 1884 to 1931. The manuscripts include corrected proofs of two manuscripts; the author’s holographic revisions appear on the correct proofs of Memoirs of My Dead Life and Ulick and Soracha.
