Scope and Contents
The records of the Computer Planning Committee are arranged alphabetically for folder title and chronologically within folders. The records range in date from 1983 until 1985 abd include correspondence, reports, and policies. The correspondence includes communications regarding computer policy decisions, including the purchase of computers, use of computer software, and encouraging the ownership and use of computers by Bucknell faculty. Records include an administrative policy on academic department and administrative use of "micro/mini commputers" and a progrees report on the committee's work as it addressed its charge.

Administrative History
The Committee on Computer Planning was comprised of faculty and administrative staff and was formed in October 1982 to create a 3 - 5 year plan for computing and related technologies. Some of the topics the committee addressed were the mission and goals for computing on campus, administrative policy on the acquisition of micro and minicomputers, acquisition and replacement of computer hardware, microcomputer ownership requirements, microcomputer labs, and administrative and academic computing needs. The committee also developed policies for computer hardware and software use on campus and communicated these decisions to the campus.
