Materials Specific Details
Digitized program dated October 8, 1933 in German for an event commemorating the first German immigrants to the United States with Francis Daniel Pastorius. The 1933 celebration was attended by Cyrus Follmer, Class of 1916, while he was employed with the U.S. embassy in Berlin, Germany. The program includes his annotations and translations into English. The program included a speech by Dr. Joseph Goebbels, who at that time was the German minister of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda under the Adolf Hitler administration and the Gauleiter (leader) of the Nazi Party in Berlin. Follmer noted that Goebbels was a good speaker.
