The letters, manuscripts, and business papers that make up the collection chronicle the last years of the writing career of Norman Douglas, discussing his business dealings, research, travels and thoughts on other authors. Douglas is currently doing nothing, "as my brain will not work." He finished a long book [Looking Back], but his publishers cannot bring it out before April due to bad business. He wrote to Robin Douglas one month ago, but has had no answer. There are six copies of Capri: [Materials for a Description of the Island] waiting to be picked up by Sachs at Holliday's book shop. If Sachs decides to sell them, he is supposed to "spend the money drinking our health."
