The letters, manuscripts, and business papers that make up the collection chronicle the last years of the writing career of Norman Douglas, discussing his business dealings, research, travels and thoughts on other authors. Materials Specific Details
Douglas thanks Sachs for the check for twenty-six dollars [presumably for the purchase of his newest book, Some Limericks]. Douglas explains to Sachs that he will be sending the book by registered letter post because U.S. Customs is watching for vulgar literature. Copies of D. H. Lawrence's Lady Chatterly['s Lover] have been seized and destroyed. He is glad one copy of the book will be on American soil and asks Sachs to look for other "discreet" American clients. He also thanks Sachs for his alluring account of Texas, wishing he wasn't too old to visit America.
