Administrative History

A concentration in Women's Studies was established at Bucknell University in 1978. In 1981, the concentration became a Women's Studies minor. The Women's Studies program provided students with an examination of history, society and culture from women's perspectives, and strengthened critical thinking and inquiry through special attention to women's perspectives. The Race/Gender Resource Center, established in 1987, was charged with enhancing the minors in Women's and Black Studies. The co-directors of the Center administered the minors and appointed a Women's Studies Advisory Committee in 1990.
