Administrative History
The Placement Bureau was established at Bucknell University in 1948. It was established to provide comprehensive career counseling and placement services for students and alumni. Its principal task was to survey employment trends and arrange contacts and interviews for students with potential employers. In addition to providing services for students, the Director of the Placement Bureau also assisted in the recruitment of clerical staff for the university and the management of conventions and significant events held on campus. The Placement Bureau was renamed Career Planning and Placement in 1970.
