Administrative History
The Association of Bucknell Students (ABS) was established in 1969. The ABS was the main student government organization and it included all of the members of the student body. It was concerned with all aspects of student life and served as the official voice of Bucknell students. According to the Constitution of the Association, its actions were “directed toward the preservation of the rights and fulfillment of the responsibilities of the student body within the University.” In addition to serving as ABS members, students were also elected to attend meetings of selected committees of the Board of Trustees and served on various University and faculty committees. The affairs of the Association were administered by the Steering Committee, the Student Appropriations Committee, and the Student Congress. The Dean of Student Affairs served as the advisor of the Association. The Association of Bucknell Students changed its name to Bucknell Student Government in 1984.
