  • Administrative History

    Although a course titled Art History had been taught at Bucknell University since 1919, the Art Department was not formally established at Bucknell University until 1926. The first courses offered by the department were Art 101, History of Art, and Art 102, Appreciation of Art. Course work expanded to include additional coursework in history of art as well as studio art. A reorganization of the curriculum of the University in 1932 made it possible to major in art. In 1998, the Art Department was renamed the Department of Art and Art History.

    The records of the Department of Art and Art History are arranged alphabetically by folder title and range from 1998 to the present. Included in the records are correspondence and syllabi for ART 230 Printmaking and ART 320 Group Independent Study In Conjunction with the Getty Campus Heritage Project.

    Photographs may be housed with the Special Collections/University Archives Photograph Collection. Additional records can be found in the oversize records.
