The University Task Force on Institutional Diversity and Campus Relations was formed in 1996 by President Bro Adams with a four part charge: 1) to provide an historic overview of diversity within various compondents of the University community. 2) provide a critical assessment of diversity at Bucknell in 1995-1996, including assessments of past and present programs attempting to enhance diversity. 3) to determine and define the forms of diversity at Bucknell What should be the institutional goals with regard to diversity? 4) provide recommendations, both immediate and long-term, as to how the University can enhance diversity and the sense of community at Bucknell. The task force was cochaired by Linden Lewis, assistant professor of sociology and Joyce Bylander, director of Multicultural Affairs. The task force submitted a report of findings to President Adams in December 1997. The Office of the President issued a Plan for Diversity in March 1999.
