Administrative History
The Office of the Dean of Men was established at Bucknell University in 1937. The office was responsible for all non-academic aspects of the lives of male students. According to the 1956-1957 Bucknell University student handbook this included "living accommodations, social life, fraternities, non-fraternity groups, student government and student organizations, general student conduct and counseling and guidance on personal problems, including parental conferences." The Dean of Men and his assistant were also responsible for campus wide informational and educational programs and for conveying University regulations.
