Administrative History
The Office of the Dean of Freshmen was established at Bucknell University in 1930 under J. Hillis Miller. According to the 1931 Bucknell University Student Handbook, the Office of the Dean of Freshmen was "the center of Personnel Work at Bucknell. It attempts to bring together facts and figures, foregrounds and backgrounds, but only to make more intelligent the relationship which exists between student and teacher or administrator. It also attempts to correlate and to coordinate all personnel work on campus."
The Dean of Freshmen also assisted students who had difficulties with any issues with life at Bucknell. The Office of the Dean of Freshman remained in existence until 1932.
