Scope and Contents
The records of the Committee on Religious Program are arranged alphabetically by folder title and range from 1946 to 1971. Records include chapel programs and schedules, correspondence, meeting minutes, policies, Religion-in-Life program records, reports and chapel sermons. Correspondence includes letters regarding programs, compulsory chapel and the use of Rooke Chapel. Included in the reports is a research-study project, "What is a Christian College," in addition to a report on Bucknell's Chapel.

Administrative History
The Committee on Religious Program at Bucknell University was created in 1946 to "consider matters of policy concerning the religious life of the University." The committee was authorized to conduct the University Chapel Program and provide special religious programs and ceremonies that were significant to the religious life of Bucknell. The committee also sponsored the Bucknell University Christian Association while it was in existence. Originally a faculty committee, the Committee on Religious Program absorbed the faculty Chapel Committee. It became a University Committee in 1951 and continued to function until the early 1970s.
