Administrative History
Formed in 1971, the Bucknell Jazz and Rock Ensemble (BJRE) consisted of more than twenty musicians and vocalists and gained an international following through extensive touring. In 1974, the ensemble became the first U.S. university jazz ensemble to tour in eastern Europe during the Cold War with sold-out performances in East Berlin and Prague. The ensemble continued to be active into the 1990s.
